Rugby Park appears to be safe

The Invercargill sports stadium, Rugby Park, appears to be safe following a meeting on its future on Monday night.

The park's future was in doubt because the Southland Outdoor Stadium Trust, which owns the ground, owes $1.5 million.

Chair Ian Tulloch said an agreement has been reached to keep the stadium open and the public can be reassured the stadium is safe. He is refusing to release details of the deal.

The Invercargill City Council, the Community Trust of Southland, the Southland Outdoor Stadium Trust and Rugby Southland all met to discuss its future.
