Mark Lundy's re-trial will now not take place until 2015. He was due in court in June this year for the murders of his wife and daughter Christine and Amber Lundy in their Palmerston North home in August 2000.

In 2013, the Privy Council in London quashed Mr Lundy's earlier convictions over the deaths of Christine and Amber Lundy who were bludgeoned to death.

He appeared at the Wellington High Court on Wednesday where his lawyers and representatives of the Crown agreed that further scientific evidence was needed.

Both sides are gathering further expert opinions and conducting their own tests. They will be back in court in March.

Justice Young nominated a date in June for further pre-trial arguments.

Mr Lundy did not make any comment to waiting media as he left court with lawyer Ross Burns. He is on bail at a location which was suppressed by the court at an earlier hearing.
