An Auckland man charged with stabbing a police officer in the face has been found unfit to stand trial.
Brett Mann is charged with three counts of assault and one of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after an altercation with a group of police officers in Auckland in October last year.
He stabbed one in the face with a knife, and attempted to assault three other officers.
At the Auckland District Court on Monday, two psychiatric reports detailed Mr Mann's schizophrenia, which is resistant to medication.
The reports said he has illusions that he is God, and is fighting alien warfare. That means he has a lack of insight into his actions, and makes him unable to properly communicate with his lawyer.
Mr Mann has been remanded to the Mason Clinic until March.
