Police investigate attempted abduction

11:42 am on 3 February 2014

Police are investigating whether an attempted abduction of a 16-year old girl in Hamilton is related to a incident a few hours earlier.

The girl was approached by a man in Edgecumbe Street in the suburb of Whitiora at about 11am on Sunday but managed to run off and raise the alarm.

Police say a similar incident happened in Hood Street in the central business district about 6am but they are not releasing details.

They say in the later attempt, the man is described as dark skinned, aged in his 40s to 50s of lean muscular build with short dark hair. He was driving a silver coloured car.

Police are asking for anyone who may have seen the incident or the car in the area at the time, to contact them.
