The 2013 Man Booker prize author, Eleanor Catton, is to receive an honorary doctorate in literature from Victoria University.
The New Zealand writer took the prize for her second novel The Luminaries.
University Vice-Chancellor Professor Pat Walsh said Catton's success early in her career was evidence of her outstanding talent.
Catton graduated from Victoria University with a Masters of Arts in Creative Writing in 2008. She will receive her doctorate at the May graduation ceremony.
