An Australian tramper missing on the West Coast has been found.
The 62-year-old was reported missing on Thursday afternoon after he became separated from tramping companions on the Croesus Track between Blackball and Barrytown.
Police say the man was with a party of five who had spent Wednesday night in the Ces Clark Memorial Hut.
They were descending towards Barrytown when the Australian became separated from the group. His companions doubled back, but couldn't find him and raised the alarm.
Police say the man was spotted by searchers from the NZCC rescue helicopter in Fagan Creek at 1pm on Friday, about 500 metres vertically below the track his group had taken.
The man was winched to the helicopter showing early signs of hypothermia, but did not require further medical treatment.
