A cyclist has been killed after being hit by a truck in central Auckland.
The collision happened at the bottom of Parnell Rise about 2.15pm on Tuesday.
Detours around the scene are likely to stay in place for several hours. The area links to the southern, north-western and northern motorways from the Ports of Auckland.
Ambulance staff say the man in his 30s was in a critical condition when paramedics arrived and died a short time later.
It is understood that the body is being kept at the scene while the Serious Crash Unit investigates. It arrived about 4.30pm.
The New Zealand Transport Agency said parts of The Strand remain closed and traffic is heavy.
