Police are still searching for witnesses to a bar fight that left a Hamilton man in a coma.
Trevor Cochrane was hit in the head by a hurled 2 litre glass jug at a Chartwell bar while trying to break up a fight over an arm-wrestling competition on Friday.
The 55-year old is in an induced coma after having surgery on his brain.
A 23-year old man appeared in Hamilton District Court on Monday charged with wounding with reckless disregard and was been bailed until the end of January.
The officer in charge of the investigation, Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Greene, says police are not looking for anyone else over the attack.
Police are not looking for anyone else over the attack, but would like to speak to about a half dozen witnesses who were at the Still Working Bar at the time of the fight.
He's urging them to contact the police in Hamilton.
Family stressed over incident
Mr Cochran's family say they're stressed and upset he'll spend the Christmas holidays in an induced coma.
And Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Greene said his thoughts were with Mr Cochrane and his family.
"Life has changed in an instant for Trevor, in a brief instant, so for him and his family life will never be the same, whatever happens."
Mr Cochrane's son-in-law Matthew Bloxham told a news conference in Hamilton on Tuesday his family are hoping he will come out of the coma soon.
"Everyone's pretty stressed out, got a lot going on ... and both the daughters are expecting children in February as well so we're just hoping he comes to, so he can see his grandchildren."
