Another sacking at transport agency

6:00 am on 19 December 2013

The Auckland Transport agency has sacked a second staff member after conducting an internal investigation into corruption and conflicts of interest.

A manager at Auckland Transport was fired in September this year after the council-owned organisation began looking into fraud claims related to its road corridor maintenance business.

The agency said on Wednesday it has completed its investigation and a second person has been dismissed.

It has given its findings to the Serious Fraud Office, which is carrying out an investigation.

Auckland Transport said it can't say anything more at this stage, as the SFO inquiry may involve employment or legal issues.
