A Tauranga security officer accused of trying to get someone to murder his parents will defend the charge.

Alan Barlow, 42, appeared in the High Court in Tauranga on Monday charged with attempting to procure a special duties police officer to murder Kevin and Diana Barlow.

His lawyer, Craig Tuck, formally entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf.

Mr Barlow was remanded on bail and will next appear in court for a case review hearing in March next year.
