A 32-year-old woman who had a baby with a 13-year-old was high on methamphetamine at the time she slept with him.
Cecelia Hale pleaded guilty in July this year to two charges of sexual connection with a young person and one of supplying him with cannabis.
She was jailed for three years and nine months when she appeared in the Manukau District Court for sentencing on Wednesday.
The offending took place from 1-4 July in 2012 while the boy was staying at Hale's house.
Judge Anna Johns told the court that Hale was on methamphethamine, cannabis and alcohol when she had sex with the boy.
She said Hale had multiple partners at the time and did not know who the baby's father was until a paternity test was carried out.
In a victim impact statement, the boy said he is angry at Hale, regrets what happened and did not know what he was getting himself into.
He has since dropped out of school and often takes his anger out on his mother and sisters, the court was told.
Judge Johns said Hale took advantage of a vulnerable young boy and did not consider the harm she would cause him and his family.
