Jurors deciding the case of seven men accused of electoral fraud in Auckland have retired for the night and will begin their third day of deliberations on Wednesday.
Daljit Singh, a real estate agent and senior member of the Supreme Sikh Council, failed in his attempt to win a seat on the Otara-Papatoetoe board in the super-city election in 2010.
It is alleged that he, along with six other men, sent personal details of 116 voters to authorities and registered them to the area where Mr Singh was standing.
The men are charged with 39 counts of using a forged document, but because some of the counts relate to more than one person, there are 51 verdicts for the jury to consider.
All seven men deny the charges. The jury retired to consider its verdicts shortly before noon last Friday.
