Philippines shifting to recovery mode

World Vision says the response in the Philippines to Typhoon Haiyan is beginning to move into recovery mode.

World Vision New Zealand said the latest situation report from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade shows the current toll from the typhoon which made landfall on 8 November, is 4015 dead. Another 1602 are still missing.

More than one million houses were damaged or destroyed.

World Vision chief executive Chris Clarke said the relief response is now feeding 2.9 million people, but the effort is beginning to turn to the longer term restoration of infrastructure and community services.

He said water has been restored to 80% of the people.
