Too many pensioners spending savings on living costs

7:00 am on 24 November 2013

Grey Power says too many pensioners are resorting to dipping into their savings to meet their day-to-day expenses.

The organisation says the rising cost of insurance, rates, rents and electricity is putting pressure on the elderly, especially those who live alone on a single superannuation income.

National president Roy Reid says many are struggling but are too proud to seek budgeting help.

He says that attitude needs to change and pensioners should ask for support if they need it.
