Wellington Hospital says a man is undergoing surgery for two broken legs after an incident involving a bus and several cars.
Police say a bus was turning on a road in the suburb of Crofton Downs when it blocked both lanes about midday on Friday.
They say a vehicle hit the bus, before bouncing back. Several other cars collided and the man was hit on the forecourt of a petrol station.
The hospital says he is in a serious but stable condition.
