Police are reviewing CCTV footage of a recently released prisoner who was allegedly impersonating a doctor at Wellington Hospital.
Staff at the hospital have been on alert since the incident on Tuesday.
The Capital and Coast District Health Board says it was warned that the former Rimutaka Prison inmate could be impersonating a doctor at the Otago Medical School, based at the hospital.
A picture of the man, who is also being investigated by a community probation officer, has been sent to staff and they have been told to call security if he is seen.
A police spokesperson says officers will view CCTV footage from the hospital on Wednesday to ascertain exactly what the man was doing in the hospital.
