Teachers unhappy with NCEA German exam

The NCEA exam season has had its first controversy, with teachers complaining that the level one German exam was too hard.

They say the listening and reading paper on Tuesday was supposed to be in German and English, but the questions were all in German.

They are worried their students will not do as well as they should, and that they will be put off from doing German next year.

German teachers were upset last year too, when the level 2 exam featured a song they said was difficult for their students to understand.

The Qualifications Authority is looking into the matter.

Scholarship exams started on 8 November and NCEA exams on 11 November. They run for four weeks and involve 120 exams.
