The police in Australia resumed a search on Thursdsay for a New Zealand student who was swept out to sea off a beach south of Melbourne.
A Victoria police spokeswoman says the man in his 20s had been standing on rocks with friends when two of them fell or were swept into the water, AAP reports.
One of the men made it back to shore at Pearse's Beach near Blairgowrie on Wednesday afternoon.
A five-hour sea search until darkness fell at about 8.30pm failed to find the other man.
At first light on Thursday, a search involving a police helicopter, local officers and water police resumed.
