New IndyCar champion Scott Dixon says he's still hungry for more titles, after his third championship win in California.

The New Zealander needed to finish at least sixth at the Fontana Grand Prix in California to claim the championship.

The 33-year-old had to start the race in 17th on the grid after being penalised for switching engines, but he stormed home in 5th place to win the championship by 27 points.

"We had big problems at the last part of the race with the engine overheating as well so we were lucky enough to have a few cautions to keep the engine cool and hold on for another championship."

Dixon says he's still motivated to continue competing and win more titles.
