Auckland Art Gallery has been named World Building of the Year at the World Architecture Festival in Singapore.
The redevelopment of the gallery, completed in 2011, was a joint project between an Australian firm, Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp and local company Archimedia.
Gallery director Rana Devenport says the award is an acknowledgement from the international design industry of what a cultural building can do and how it can contribute to a community.
Ms Devenport says the gallery has received 16 architectural awards and four design-related accolades since the redevelopment.
