State Highway 6 on the South Island's West Coast reopened briefly on Friday, but has closed again after heavy rain sent more debris onto the road.
Two hundred tonnes of rock are covering a 100-metre stretch of road between the Haast Pass and the Gates of Haast bridge.
A 25,000 tonne slip had covered the road last weekend, which followed weeks of closures because of slips.
The Transport Agency says the latest slip is in the same area, and it is not yet clear when the road will reopen.
