The Air Force has grounded one of its helicopters after it was struck by lightning.
The Defence Force says the NH90 helicopter was hit while returning to Ohakea last month.
It landed safely and no one was hurt.
The Air Force is still assessing the damage and is not sure how much it will cost to repair the helicopter, or when it will return to service.
The Defence Force says it is not uncommon for aircraft to be hit by lightning.
