Two people been taken to hospital and one has died after a crash near Masterton on Friday.
Police central communications say the crash happened at Paierau Road in Matahiwi just after 6pm.
The crews of two fire engines cut the vehicles open to allow paramedics to pull out the injured occupants but police say one person died at the scene.
A 16-year-old girl with spinal injuries and a 24-year-old man with abdominal and back pain have both been taken to hospital.
The serious crash unit is at the scene to establish what happened but police say it appears to have been a head-on crash.
