Beehive in lockdown

8:51 pm on 19 August 2013

Some offices in the Beehive were briefly locked down on Monday afternoon after the discovery of white powder.

Police say they were called just after 4.30pm but the matter was quickly resolved, after the powder was found to be icing sugar from a batch of Turkish Delight.

The package was sent to MPs at Parliament on Monday along with an invite to a party to be hosted by a public relations firm.

The incident follows a string of security incidents involving white power in Wellington that have targeted United Future leader, Peter Dunne; government minister, Gerry Brownlee and the Ministry of Health.
