Customs officials from throughout the South Pacific are in New Zealand learning how to detect illegal animal smugglers.
They've spent the past week at an airport training facility in Auckland, under the tutelage of the Wildlife Enforcement Group.
Customs officers from the Cook Islands, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu have been learning how to detect, arrest and prosecute animal smugglers.
Customs says the Pacific Islands are viewed globally as a both a source and transit route for highly prized animals.
A speech from the United States Department of Justice has also formed part of the workshop.
