Ashburton-born singer Simon O'Neill has been named in a new list of the world's top 10 tenors, published by an influential London radio station.
Rankings in the latest Classic FM magazine position O'Neill alongside the likes of Placido Domingo, Juan Diego Florez and Jonas Kaufman.
O'Neill, 37, is a principal artist with the Metropolitan Opera company, the Royal Opera House and at Covent Garden.
The magazine says "all ears are open" to hear when O'Neill will step up to the most punishing roles, and says he may be the "great hope for Wagnerian opera".
