Nelson-Marlborough DHB in cost-cutting review

1:05 pm on 3 June 2009

The Nelson-Marlborough District Health Board is to look at ways of slashing costs, in a major review of its business.

A review group will look at each part of the district health board, starting with corporate services.

The board says it may cancel some service contracts that are no longer sustainable.

Chief Medical Advisor Dr Andre Nel says the board has to live within its means by identifying savings and cutting waste.

Recommendations are expected by November, with the DHB aiming for a break-even budget over the next three years.
