Wellington City Council staff dissatisfied with their jobs

Wellington City Council plans to build a new workplace culture after a survey found that many staff are dissatisfied with their jobs.

Feedback shows council employees are unclear what is expected of them in their roles.

Many say they are not enjoying their work and do not expect to be with the organisation two years from now.

That is supported by high turnover of staff and feedback that they feel disempowered.

Chief executive, Kevin Lavery said he was not surprised by the negative survey result and he is committed to rebuilding the culture at the council.

Mr Lavery said 81% of staff took part in the survey.
