Navy ship on South Pacific mission

The Royal New Zealand Navy is sending a ship to the Cook Islands on Sunday to support a humanitarian mission.

HMNZS Canterbury leaves at 10am and will call at Raoul Island en route to deliver 20,000 litres of fuel.

Exercise Tropic Twilight is part of an annual deployment in the South Pacific, which doubles as a training opportunity in a tropical environment.

Navy helicopters will deliver medical and dental supplies and carry engineers to the Cook Islands.

Six boxes of New Zealand Law Commission reports, which are a gift to the Samoa Law Reform Commission, will also be delivered.
