Former Australian Privacy Commissioner says more needs to be done to protect personal information in New Zealand.
Privacy and data protection expert Malcolm Crompton led the independent review into ACC's privacy breach of 2011, and is in Wellington to speak at a Law Society conference.
He told Radio New Zealand's Morning Report programme more money should be invested in technology, and workplaces need more training and a culture of respecting and protecting private information.
Mr Compton said Governments could consider using a system other than email for their correspondence with citizens, in the same way banks do.
