Organisations providing budgeting services are to receive an extra $1.5 million from the Government.
The funding will be allocated in the Budget on 16 May.
Groups such as the Salvation Army have expressed concern about the level of funding for services to help low income New Zealanders.
Earlier this month it said it had lost four social workers in Auckland in recent months and may lose more if it cannot raise enough money from donations.
Social Development Minister, Paula Bennett, says the money to be announced in the Budget is in addition to the $8.9 million the Government already spends in this area.
She says there will be a review of funding for budgeting services later this year, but the extra money will relieve some of the pressure in the meantime.
