Dave McArtney, a founding member of New Zealand bands Hello Sailor and The Pink Flamingos, has died at his home in Auckland.
McArtney rose to fame after founding Hello Sailor with fellow guitarist-vocalist Harry Lyon and frontman Graham Brazier in the mid 70s.
McCartney founded The Pink Flamingos in the 1980s, although he remained a member of Hello Sailor.
For the past decade he had worked as a music tutor at the Music and Audio Institute of New Zealand in Auckland.
Hello Sailor was inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame in 2011.
