Theatre company looks for new venue after fire

The Auckland Theatre Company is looking for a new venue for its latest production after Auckland University's Maidment theatre was badly damaged in a fire.

The stage of the theatre at Auckland University was badly damaged by the fire on Wednesay and 80 people had to evacuated.

Auckland Theatre Company's production Midnight in Moscow was due to open at the theatre next week.

Company general manager Lester McGrath says work is already underway to find an alternative venue and he hopes to have a new location by Friday afternoon.
