Some EQC services to resume after privacy breach.

Some Earthquake Commission services will start getting back to normal in the next few days following privacy breaches in the organisation but staff members still will not be able to email clients.

Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee had the commission's external email system shut down last week after a spreadsheet containing 2200 names and information about $23 million of cheques that not had been cashed were wrongly sent to a Christchurch man.

Earlier details of 83,000 clients were sent to an outside company.

Mr Brownlee says an internal audit is underway and all necessary steps are being taken to protect customer privacy.

He says some services will resume, such as the claims settlement system, but there will still be delays in claims processing and payments.

Online complaints forms are still unavailable and commission staff cannot email clients, although clients will be able to email them.
