It is now easier for single veterans or pensioners to get financial help from the Government.
The Social Assistance Amendment Bill became law on Thursday night, making it easier for superannuitants and veterans living alone to access support.
Until now, the living alone payment - an acknowledgment that it is more costly for a person to live on their own - had to be applied for separately to the pension.
It is being replaced with a payment that can be applied for over the phone or by email.
