A man has died after being hit by a truck while getting out of a car in Christchurch on Wednesday afternoon.
Police say the man was a passenger in a vehicle that had pulled over to the side of Pound Rd in the suburb of Yaldhurst just after midday.
They say he had just stepped out of the car when the accident occurred. He was found dead at the scene by St John Ambulance staff.
Pound Rd between Yaldhurst Rd and Ryans Rd was expected to remain closed for a few hours.
