The father of Scottish woman Karen Aim who was murdered last year while living in Taupo has pledged to campaign to make sure her killer is never released from prison.

Jahche Broughton, 15, was sentenced last week in the High Court in Rotorua to life in prison, with a non-parole period of 12-and-a-half years.

Broughton killed 27-year-old Karen Aim by hitting her over the head with a baseball bat.

Ms Aim's father, Brian Aim, was in New Zealand for the sentencing and has returned home to the Orkney Islands.

He says Broughton has shown no remorse and public safety demands that he never be allowed back into society.

Mr Aim says he has already written a letter to the Parole Board, which he will send nearer the time Broughton is eligible for parole.
