The biggest celebration of Pacific culture in New Zealand begins in Auckland on Saturday with the launch of an expanded Pasifika Festival.
More than 100,000 visitors are expected at Western Springs Park to enjoy the music, dance, food and arts of 10 Pacific cultures.
Festival producer Stan Wolfgramm said it 's now a two-day event, with a combined church service and family day on Sunday.
There is also a stronger emphasis on traditional crafts and food in the 10 Pacific villages. The 1500 performers include a brass band of 50 from Tonga and artists from other nations.
The festival is free, with the cost shared by Auckland Council and corporate sponsors.
