The artist who painted the The Man with the Donkey from his time in Gallipoli will be honoured in Hamilton on Friday.
Horace Moore-Jones used his artistic skills to make maps and sketches of enemy positions at great personal risk during the Gallipoli campaign.
He died in 1922 from injuries sustained while saving a number of people from a burning Hamilton hotel.
There was a public outpouring of grief and people lined the main street of the city as his funeral procession passed by.
