Emily Longley's father speaks about daughter's death

The father of Emily Longley says it's been emotionally tough, but satisfying, to speak out about his daughter's death for the White Ribbon Campaign to stop violence towards women.

Emily Longley, who was 17, was strangled by her boyfriend Elliot Turner at his family home in England last year.

Mark Longley says he's felt powerless since his daughter died, but taking part in the White Ribbon Campaign has given him a chance to take some control.

"My own personal reason for doing it is I would like to stop it happening to someone else."

Mr Longley says one of the most important messages is not to stay silent about violence towards women. He says his daughter might be alive today if friends of her killer had spoken out.
