Legislation giving the green light to a subdivision in Oamaru has passed its second reading in Parliament by 97 votes to 23.
The bill sponsored by Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean gives Waitaki District Council clear title to a hillside reserve it wants for a housing development.
After selling two-thirds of the sections off the plans, the council discovered in 2005 that the land was classed as a protected reserve.
