Council set to get gastroenteritis outbreak report

6:30 pm on 18 October 2012

An independent review of a gastroenteritis outbreak in rural Canterbury will be presented to the Selwyn District Council next Wednesday.

The outbreak in Darfield in August was the result of e.coli bacteria contaminating the water supply.

The council admits it failed to chlorinate the water properly.

Its chief executive, Paul Davey, says the council hopes to implement several key recommendations, including communicating with the community better about the need to boil water.
