The New Zealand police have been working with the FBI in a child porn case in which a Texan man has been jailed for 15 years.

The United States Attorney's Office says Ramon Hilario, 59, admitted owning more than 600 pornographic pictures of children and putting some of them online.

Hilario sent about 30 child pornography images to an undercover detective in New Zealand using an online file sharing program in February.

US authorities then discovered more than 600 similar pictures on his home computer in Odessa, Texas.

Some of the images showed children as young as four years old being abused.

As well as sentencing Hilario to 15 years in prison, the US District Court Judge also ordered that he be placed under supervision for an additional 15 years on being released.
