Man admits stabbing 95-year-old war veteran

A man has admitted stabbing his elderly neighbour in the head during a home invasion in Auckland.

War veteran Albert Chant, 95, was attacked in his west Auckland home in April.

Jacob Komene, 20, pleaded guilty at the High Court in Auckland on Wednesday to wounding Mr Chant with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and aggravated robbery.

A charge of attempted murder was dropped.

Komene has been remanded in custody until sentencing on 4 December.
