The lawyer acting for about 100 Indonesian fishermen owed money by the Korean company that hired them says some could be paid within three months.

Crew on three Sajo Oyang Corporation vessels working in New Zealand waters are owed $7.9 million.

Thirty crew from the Oyang 75 vessel are now closer to getting their wages paid after an order by New Zealand's Ministry for Primary Industries for the boat to be seized to pay a fine for illegally dumping fish.

The lawyer for the fishermen, Craig Tuck, says all of the fishermen have returned to Indonesia and are desperate to be paid what they are owed.

Legal proceedings have begun to secure the men's wages once the Oyang 75 is seized and sold, he says.
