A man has pleaded guilty in Christchurch District Court to rape charges arising from 1996 and 1988.
Wayne Robert Jarden admitted raping a Christchurch woman, aged 90, in 1996 and a woman, then aged 27, in 1988, when he appeared in the court on Monday.
A psychiatric report was ordered and he was remanded in custody for sentencing on 3 April.
The Crown intends to apply for a preventive detention sentence.
Jarden's brother, Kevin Moana Jarden, is already serving a sentence of preventive detention for raping two young girls.
