Changes ahead for tourism company

12:31 pm on 22 August 2012

Job cuts are looming at a South Island company as it looks at restructuring for a changing tourism world. Tourist numbers from North America and Europe are falling.

Real Journeys operates buses and flights to Milford Sound and runs the TSS Earnslaw steamer. It has more than 400 employees.

New chief executive Richard Lauder says the company is not in trouble, but is looking at consolidating its focus.

A proposal has been developed that includes cutting some positions.

Any changes will be implemented by the end of September, after consultation.
