Decision reserved in jockey's drug case

The Judicial Control Authority has reserved its decision regarding a drugs hearing involving top New Zealand jockey Lisa Cropp.

The champion jockey tested positive for methamphetamine after a race at Te Rapa in May 2005.

It is alleged Ms Cropp knew she would fail the urine sample and attempted to contaminate the sample by dipping her bandaged finger in it.

But the defence says Ms Cropp did this without thinking in order to remove a horse hair.

The defence also refuted claims Ms Cropp is a P-addict, saying if that was so, she would not have volunteered a second sample after hearing that she had failed the first.

Ms Cropp previously went to the Supreme Court to get the case thrown out, but failed.
