A drainage worker is dead and another is in hospital in a serious condition after they became trapped between two trucks in Christchurch.
The trucks had been backed up to each other to help the men clear drains in the suburb of Woolston, when one of the vehicles rolled backwards, trapping the pair.
Occupational Safety and Health inspectors are at the scene along with police.
