Drivers in Auckland may soon have to pay more to park in the central city.
Auckland Transport is proposing a new central city parking zone to free up on-street parking and reduce traffic and parking congestion.
It is proposing charging $5 for the first hour of parking in the city centre and $8 every hour after that.
In addition, the agency is also considering extending paid parking time from 6pm - 10pm in the CBD.
It is also considering higher parking fees in more central, busier areas and lower charges in areas where there is less demand for parking.
Feedback is now being sought.
